Sight and eye health

A full eye exam looks at how well you see and how healthy your eyes are — important because many eye conditions are silent until they’re advanced.

  • Vision and refraction (whether you need glasses or a change)
  • Eye pressure and front-of-eye health
  • OCT scan — a detailed cross-section of the retina and optic nerve
  • Screening for glaucoma, macular and retinal changes

Why OCT matters

Seeing beneath the surface

OCT (optical coherence tomography) images the layers of the retina in fine detail, helping detect glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic changes far earlier than a standard look. It’s quick, comfortable and radiation-free.

This is an assess, scan and refer service. Where treatment or specialist management is needed, we arrange it promptly through our trusted consultant and imaging partners.

If we find something — from a simple prescription change to signs needing an ophthalmologist — we explain it and arrange the right onward care. We also offer dedicated glaucoma and diabetic eye screening.

GMC-registered clinicians, CQC-registered clinic

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.

Our exam combines a full sight test with detailed OCT retinal imaging and eye-health screening, with direct medical referral if anything needs specialist care.

What is an OCT scan?

Do I need a referral?

No — you can book directly. If we find something needing an ophthalmologist, we arrange that referral for you.

Can you prescribe glasses?
