Confidential consultation covering sexual health, function and the relationship context around it — because the three are rarely separable.
Educational information — not a substitute for clinical assessment
This page describes sexual health & relationships in general terms to help you decide whether an assessment may be useful. It is not a diagnosis and does not promise a particular result. Suitability, the number of sessions and whether treatment is appropriate at all are decided at consultation. Outcomes vary between individuals and treatment is not suitable for everyone.
Sexual difficulty rarely sits in one person alone. It affects, and is affected by, the relationship it occurs in. A consultation that ignores that context misses most of the picture.
This consultation covers sexual function, sexual health and the relationship context together, rather than treating them as separate problems.
It is appropriate where a difficulty is affecting a relationship, where relationship factors are contributing to a difficulty, or where a couple wants to address something together.
Sexual health screening is available separately through our sexual health service, and we will arrange it where relevant.
Consultation identifies whether the difficulty is primarily physical, psychological, relational, or a mixture.
Where a physical cause exists in either partner, it is investigated.
Where the difficulty is relational, addressing it directly is more effective than treating one partner medically.
Onward referral to relationship or psychosexual therapy is arranged where that is the right route.
We use focal shockwave because it delivers energy to a defined depth — up to approximately 12 cm — allowing accurate treatment of deeper structures. Radial devices spread energy outwards from the applicator and lose intensity quickly, which limits them to more superficial targets.
Pulses travel from the probe and converge on a target at depth. The dashed line marks where radial devices stop.
