What we treat

Acne, rosacea and the redness in between

Acne and rosacea are common, treatable conditions — but they can look similar and often need different treatment. We take time to work out what is actually going on before recommending anything.

  • Acne — blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed spots and cysts on the face, back or chest, at any age including adult and hormonal acne
  • Rosacea — facial redness, flushing, visible vessels and acne-like bumps, often with sensitive skin
  • Acne scarring & marks — assessment of post-inflammatory marks and scarring, and realistic options to improve them
  • Related concerns — oily or congested skin, folliculitis, and skin changes that may need a closer look

Your assessment

A careful look before any treatment

At your first visit we ask about how long the problem has been there, what makes it better or worse, your skincare and any previous treatments, and — where relevant — your general health, medications and menstrual cycle. We examine your skin in good light and grade its severity so we can track progress.

Where a hormonal cause is suspected, we may suggest blood tests. If anything looks unusual or doesn’t fit, we arrange the right investigation or referral rather than guessing.

Treatment options

A stepped, evidence-based plan

We follow national (NICE) guidance and build up treatment in sensible steps, starting with the simplest effective option:

  • Skincare advice — a simple, non-irritating routine and product guidance tailored to your skin
  • Topical treatments — prescription creams and gels (such as retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid or topical antibiotics)
  • Oral treatments — a course of oral antibiotics, or hormonal options where appropriate, with clear monitoring
  • Rosacea-specific care — trigger management, prescription creams and treatments to reduce redness and flushing
  • Scarring & redness — advice on options to improve marks and scarring, referring on for procedures where that is the best route

Some acne needs specialist medication (such as oral isotretinoin) that is prescribed and monitored by a consultant dermatologist. Where that is the right step, we explain it and arrange onward specialist referral.

Follow-up

We stay with you until your skin settles

Skin treatment takes time — most plans need six to twelve weeks before the full benefit shows. We review you, adjust the plan, manage any side effects and support you through the flare-ups so you’re not left to work it out alone.

Safe, joined-up care

GMC-registered clinicians, CQC-registered clinic

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.

Fees

Clear, up-front pricing

Consultation and assessment fees are set out on our price list, and any tests or treatments are explained and priced clearly before you go ahead — no surprises. Some services are priced on enquiry; just ask the clinic team.

Common questions

Can you treat adult and hormonal acne?

Yes. Acne is common in adults, particularly women, and can be linked to hormones. We assess this carefully, may suggest relevant tests, and offer topical, oral or hormonal treatment options as appropriate.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to see us privately. If your skin needs a consultant dermatologist — for example for isotretinoin or a procedure — we arrange that referral for you.

Can you prescribe isotretinoin (Roaccutane)?

Isotretinoin is a powerful medicine that must be prescribed and monitored by a consultant dermatologist under strict safety rules. We assess whether it may be suitable and refer you to a consultant who prescribes and monitors it.

Will treatment get rid of my scarring?

We can assess scarring and marks and set out realistic options. Some marks fade with time and good treatment; deeper scarring may need procedures, which we can refer you for.

Is rosacea curable?

Rosacea is a long-term condition that we manage rather than cure. With the right triggers avoided and the right treatment, most people get very good, lasting control of redness and flare-ups.
