Couples & Relationship Therapy

Every relationship goes through difficult patches. Therapy gives you a calm, neutral space and a skilled therapist to help you understand what’s happening between you, communicate better, and decide together how you want to move forward.

Session
50–60 minutes
Format
In person or online
For
Couples & partners

If your child is seriously unwell — call 999 or take them to A&E. We're a private outpatient service, not an emergency service. The Royal London Hospital (5 minutes' walk) has a paediatric A&E.

What it helps with

When you’re stuck in the same argument

Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis. Many couples come to understand recurring patterns, reconnect, or navigate a big change together. We can help with:

  • Communication that keeps breaking down or turning into conflict
  • Rebuilding trust after an affair, a betrayal or a breach
  • Drifting apart, loss of intimacy or feeling more like housemates than partners
  • Navigating major change — a new baby, illness, work stress, in-laws, money
  • Parenting differences and blended-family challenges
  • Deciding, thoughtfully, whether to stay together — and separating well if not

How it works

A neutral space, a skilled guide

You meet together with an experienced relationship therapist who stays even-handed — they’re not there to take sides or assign blame. Early sessions focus on understanding each of your perspectives and the patterns you get caught in. Later sessions build practical skills to communicate, repair and reconnect.

Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, and how many you need depends on your goals — some couples come for a handful of sessions, others for longer work.

Our approach

Evidence-based and respectful

Our therapists draw on established, evidence-based relationship approaches, tailored to you. Everything is confidential and non-judgemental, and you set the goals. If individual therapy would also help either of you, we can arrange that alongside — see our psychology & therapy service.

Getting started

One step at a time

You don’t both have to feel certain to begin — just willing to try. The first session is a chance to talk about what’s brought you here and what you’d like to be different, and to see whether the therapist feels like the right fit.

Safe, joined-up care

GMC-registered clinicians, CQC-registered clinic

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.

Fees

Clear, up-front pricing

Consultation and assessment fees are set out on our price list, and any tests or treatments are explained and priced clearly before you go ahead — no surprises. Some services are priced on enquiry; just ask the clinic team.

Common questions

Do we both have to want therapy?

It helps if you’re both willing to try, but it’s completely normal for one partner to feel more unsure at first. The first session is a low-pressure way to explore whether it could help.

Will the therapist take sides?

No. A couples therapist stays neutral and even-handed. Their role is to help you both feel heard and to understand the patterns between you — not to judge or assign blame.

How many sessions will we need?

It varies. Some couples find a handful of sessions enough to shift a specific issue; others do longer work. Your therapist will discuss this with you and there’s no obligation to commit to a fixed number.

Can we have sessions online?

Yes. We offer both in-person and secure online sessions, which many couples find easier to fit around work and family.

What if we decide to separate?

Therapy can also help couples separate respectfully and manage co-parenting, if that’s where you land. The aim is the outcome that’s right for you, whatever that is.
