Your skin, hair and nail concerns are examined in clinic by one of our doctors and assessed by Dr Koleva by secure video — with dermoscopy on every mole check and a clear treatment plan. Consultation and assessment; any skin procedures are carried out by our minor-surgery team.

Our hybrid dermatology service. At Tower Bridge Hospital, dermatology appointments usually combine an in-person skin examination by one of our doctors with a secure video consultation with our dermatologist. HD skin analysis and clinical photography may be used where appropriate. This approach provides convenient specialist advice without always requiring a separate face-to-face dermatologist appointment.

Consultation: £150 — includes both the onsite doctor examination and dermatologist video consultation, with no additional GP fee. If a biopsy or minor surgical procedure is required, this can be arranged separately at our clinic.

Any lesion we remove is sent for laboratory (histology) analysis, and anything suspected to be a skin cancer is fast-tracked to the right specialist.

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.

Common questions

What is mole mapping?

Photographing your moles so that any change can be spotted early by comparing images over time.

Who should have it?

Anyone with many moles, a family history of skin cancer, previous skin cancer, or a lot of sun exposure.

Can you remove a suspicious mole?

Yes — with laboratory analysis — or refer urgently if needed.

How often should I be checked?

It depends on your risk; we’ll advise on the right interval.

Mole safety

When a mole needs urgent attention

If anything looks suspicious for melanoma or non-melanoma skin cancer, we refer urgently — same day in most cases. This is normally to the NHS 2-week-wait (2WW) pathway, which is the fastest route for suspected cancer in the UK and is free at the point of care.

When to come urgently — the ABCDE rule

If you have a mole or skin spot that meets any of these, please book sooner rather than later, or use the NHS 2WW pathway via your GP:

A
Asymmetry — one half doesn’t match the other
B
Border — irregular, scalloped or poorly defined edge
C
Colour — multiple colours, or change in colour
D
Diameter — larger than 6 mm, or growing
E
Evolving — changing in size, shape, colour, or starting to bleed/itch

Most worrying moles turn out to be fine on dermoscopy. But the few that aren’t, matter enormously. Early melanoma is highly treatable; late melanoma is not.

Important: we do not excise suspected skin cancers in this clinic. Cancer excision requires wider margins, careful technique, dermatopathology review, and if positive, sentinel node consideration — all things that happen properly in a hospital setting, not a primary-care minor surgery room.
