Private Medical Insurance
We welcome patients with private medical insurance. Please note that Tower Bridge Hospital London currently operates on a self-pay basis and does not yet offer direct billing with Bupa or other private medical insurers.
We have submitted applications for insurer recognition and are awaiting approval.
Patients are required to pay directly for their appointments, tests and treatments. If you have private medical insurance, you may wish to contact your insurer to check whether you can claim reimbursement independently, subject to your policy terms.
Insurance reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.
Appointments, tests and treatments
Appointments, consultations, blood tests, ultrasound examinations and other investigations must be paid for directly by the patient. We cannot guarantee reimbursement or make representations about your insurance eligibility or cover.
Bupa and other insurers
Information for patients with Bupa and other insurers.
Bupa
Tower Bridge Hospital London does not currently have a direct billing agreement with Bupa. Our application for insurer recognition has been submitted and is awaiting approval.
Patients with Bupa insurance may book appointments on a self-pay basis. Any reimbursement would need to be discussed directly with Bupa and is subject to the patient’s individual policy.
Other insurers
The same applies to patients insured with AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, WPA, Cigna or any other insurer: we do not currently have a direct billing agreement with any private medical insurer. You are welcome to book on a self-pay basis, and any reimbursement is a matter between you and your insurer, under your individual policy.
Direct billing and self-pay
Direct billing and self-pay reimbursement: the difference.
Direct billing (not currently available)
With direct billing, the insurer pays the clinic for your care under an agreement between the clinic and the insurer. Tower Bridge Hospital London does not currently offer direct billing with Bupa or any other insurer. Our applications have been submitted and are awaiting approval.
Self-pay, with any reimbursement claimed by you
You pay us directly for your appointment, tests or treatment. If you have private medical insurance, you may then contact your insurer to check whether you can claim the cost back yourself. Whether your insurer reimburses you depends entirely on your policy and your insurer’s decision, and cannot be guaranteed.
Before you book
Checking with your insurer yourself.
- Contact your insurer before your appointment. Ask whether they would reimburse a self-pay appointment, test or treatment at Tower Bridge Hospital London (My Health & Wellbeing Clinics Ltd, 97–99 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1DT).
- Ask what they need for a claim. Some insurers ask for particular documents or details before they will consider a claim.
- Book and pay us directly. Prices are shown on our fees page before you book.
- Submit any claim yourself. Any reimbursement is between you and your insurer, under your individual policy.
Please note
An insurer’s membership number, authorisation number or referral letter does not constitute payment or confirmation of direct billing.

Does Tower Bridge Hospital London accept Bupa?
Tower Bridge Hospital London does not currently have a direct billing agreement with Bupa. Our application for insurer recognition has been submitted and is awaiting approval. Patients with Bupa insurance may book appointments on a self-pay basis. Any reimbursement would need to be discussed directly with Bupa and is subject to the patient’s individual policy.
Can I use my private medical insurance?
You are welcome to attend if you have private medical insurance, but we currently operate on a self-pay basis and do not yet offer direct billing with Bupa or other private medical insurers. You pay for your appointment directly. If you wish, you can contact your insurer to check whether you can claim reimbursement independently, subject to your policy terms. Insurance reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.
Do you offer direct billing to insurance companies?
Not at the moment. We do not currently have a direct billing agreement with Bupa or any other private medical insurer. Our applications for insurer recognition and direct billing have been submitted and are awaiting approval. We will update this page only when an agreement has been confirmed.
Can I claim the cost back from my insurer?
You may be able to. We currently operate on a self-pay basis, so you pay us directly. If you have private medical insurance, you may wish to contact your insurer to check whether you can claim reimbursement independently, subject to your policy terms. We cannot guarantee reimbursement or advise on your insurance eligibility or cover.
Do I need an insurance authorisation number?
No. Because we currently operate on a self-pay basis, you do not need an insurance authorisation number to book. Please note that an insurer’s membership number, authorisation number or referral letter does not constitute payment or confirmation of direct billing, and you will be asked to pay for your appointment directly.
Are you applying to become recognised by private medical insurers?
Yes. We have submitted applications for insurer recognition and direct billing arrangements, and they are awaiting approval. Until an insurer has confirmed approval, all appointments, tests and treatments remain self-pay.
Can I still book an appointment if I have insurance?
Yes. Patients with private medical insurance are welcome to book any of our services on a self-pay basis, online, by phone or on WhatsApp. Prices are shown on our fees page before you book, and payment is taken directly from you.
