FAQ

Neurodevelopmental assessment FAQs

What is a neurodevelopmental assessment?

A neurodevelopmental assessment looks at how someone thinks, focuses, communicates and relates to others, to identify conditions such as ADHD and autism. At Tower Bridge Hospital this is provided through a multidisciplinary pathway for adults and children.

Do you assess both ADHD and autism?

Yes. We provide ADHD assessment, autism assessment, and a combined ADHD and autism assessment where both need to be considered together. You can start with our ADHD or autism pathway, or book a combined assessment on the ADHD & Autism hub.

Do you assess adults and children?

Yes. We have adult and child/adolescent pathways for both ADHD and autism, with age-appropriate assessment and, for children, parent and school input.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly with us. With your consent we can write to your NHS GP after assessment so your records stay joined up.

What happens after diagnosis?

You receive a written diagnostic report. Where ADHD is diagnosed and medication is clinically appropriate, treatment including private prescribing, dose titration and monitoring can be provided. Autism support focuses on recommendations and post-diagnostic guidance.

Do you offer assessment in Turkish or Polish?

English, Turkish and Polish language support is available within parts of our team, subject to clinician and service availability; our Lead Nurse Kamila Hering can support ADHD assessment in Polish. Please tell reception your preferred language when booking.
