Private testosterone and TRT assessment in London at Tower Bridge Hospital, East London

TRT assessment in London.

A testosterone (TRT) assessment is a careful clinical review of your symptoms and hormone levels to work out whether low testosterone is really the cause. Booking an assessment is not a prescription — it is a proper evaluation first.

Educational information — not a substitute for clinical assessment

An assessment does not mean testosterone replacement will be recommended. TRT is only appropriate where low testosterone is confirmed and clinically indicated after proper evaluation, and it is not suitable for everyone. This page is educational and not a promotion of any medication.

What the assessment is

A TRT assessment is a structured clinical review: your symptoms, general health, and blood tests of testosterone and related hormones. Its purpose is to establish whether low testosterone genuinely explains how you feel, and whether anything else needs addressing first.

Who it is for

  • Persistent low energy, low mood or reduced libido
  • Erectile difficulties where a hormonal cause is being considered
  • A previous low or borderline testosterone result
  • Wanting a clear, unbiased evaluation before any treatment decision

What it involves

Assessment usually involves a consultation, a morning blood test of testosterone and related hormones (often repeated to confirm), and where relevant an examination. Low testosterone is confirmed on more than one properly-timed sample before any diagnosis is made.

Assessment first, decision second

We evaluate the whole picture. If low testosterone is confirmed and appropriate, we discuss options and their pros, cons and monitoring — and if it is not, we say so and look for other explanations.

What happens

  1. A consultation about your symptoms, health and goals.
  2. Morning blood tests of testosterone and related hormones, repeated where needed.
  3. A review of the results in context.
  4. A clear discussion of what they mean and the sensible options.

Important to understand

Symptoms like tiredness and low libido have many possible causes, and a borderline testosterone level is not automatically the answer. Testosterone replacement is a long-term medical treatment with benefits, risks and monitoring requirements; it is only recommended where clearly indicated. We will never present it as a lifestyle shortcut.

Outcome & next steps

You leave with a clear understanding of your results and an individual plan — which may be reassurance and other advice, further tests, or a considered discussion of treatment with proper monitoring. Related testing is available through our Male Hormone Profile.

Frequently asked questions

Does booking a TRT assessment mean I will be prescribed testosterone?

No. An assessment is an evaluation, not a prescription. Treatment is only considered where low testosterone is confirmed and clinically appropriate.

How much does the assessment cost?

The consultation and any blood tests are priced on our Fees page.

Why might I need more than one blood test?

Testosterone varies, so a low result is confirmed on a repeat, properly-timed (usually morning) sample before any diagnosis.

What if my testosterone is normal?

Then we look for other explanations for your symptoms and advise accordingly — testosterone is only part of the picture.

Is TRT suitable for everyone?

No. It has risks and monitoring requirements and is not appropriate in a number of situations, which is why proper assessment matters.
