What we help with

Everyday childhood illnesses, seen properly

Most childhood problems don’t need a hospital — they need a doctor with time to look properly. We commonly see children for:

  • Fevers and infections
  • Coughs, colds, sore throats and ear infections
  • Tummy pain, vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Rashes and skin problems
  • Urine infections
  • Eye infections such as conjunctivitis
  • Wheeze, asthma and hay fever
  • Minor injuries, cuts and wounds
  • Medication, prescription and dosing advice
  • Sick notes and school letters
  • General worries about your child’s health

How it works

From worry to plan, the same day

  1. Book online or call the clinic — same-day appointments are usually available.
  2. A GP sees your child in person, takes a full history and examines them.
  3. You get a clear explanation and a plan — reassurance, a prescription, tests, or referral.
  4. With your consent, we update your child’s NHS GP so their records stay complete.

Who you’ll see

GP-led, with specialist backup

Your child is seen by an experienced GP. Where specialist input is helpful, our consultant paediatrician, Dr Radka Velitchkova, is available within the hospital, so your child can move seamlessly from GP to paediatrician without a new referral or a long wait.

Safeguarding, consent & joined-up care

The safety of every child comes first

All our clinicians are trained in paediatric safeguarding (child protection) to the level their role requires, hold enhanced DBS checks, and work to national safeguarding guidance and our own safeguarding policy. If we are ever concerned about a child’s safety, we follow our safeguarding procedures and local child-protection pathways.

Consent and who should attend

A parent or legal guardian with parental responsibility should attend with children under 16, and we ask for the child’s and parent’s ID at the first visit. Where a young person is judged able to understand and decide about their own care (Gillick competence), we involve them fully while encouraging parental support.

Chaperones and privacy

A chaperone is offered for any examination, at no charge, and your child’s dignity and privacy are respected throughout. We keep clear, confidential records.

Working with your NHS GP

With your consent, we share relevant information with your child’s NHS GP so their care stays joined up and safe. You can ask for a copy of any letter or result.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. If your child is seriously unwell — struggling to breathe, unresponsive, having a fit, a stiff neck or a rash that does not fade under a glass — call 999 or go to the nearest A&E. The Royal London Hospital (about 5 minutes’ walk) has a paediatric emergency department.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • We do not provide crisis or emergency mental-health care — our children’s mental health clinic is for planned assessments and reviews.

Being clear about our limits is part of keeping your child safe. If your child needs urgent or emergency care, please use 999, NHS 111 or A&E.

Can you see my child today?

Same-day, in-person appointments are usually available — call the clinic to confirm a time.

Can you prescribe antibiotics or other medicines?

Yes, when they are clinically appropriate. Our GPs prescribe responsibly and follow antimicrobial stewardship guidance, so antibiotics are used only when they will help.

Do you see babies?

Will you refer to a specialist if my child needs one?

Yes — to our consultant paediatrician or onward to the right service, with a clear letter.
