What it is

Understand your heart risk — and reduce it.

Cardiovascular disease remains one of the biggest threats to healthy years of life, and much of the risk is modifiable. This assessment gives you a clear, evidence-based picture of your risk and a practical plan to lower it — led by a doctor, using the same tools mainstream medicine relies on.

It is designed around established preventive-cardiology practice, not gadgets or indiscriminate scanning.

What it covers

A structured cardiovascular review.

Depending on what is clinically appropriate for you, the assessment may include:

  • A focused cardiovascular history and symptom review
  • Blood pressure and pulse
  • A cardiovascular examination
  • A lipid (cholesterol) profile, via our blood-test service
  • Glucose or HbA1c where appropriate, as diabetes is a major cardiovascular risk factor
  • A formal risk assessment (QRISK) or equivalent
  • An ECG where clinically appropriate
  • Echocardiography and further imaging available where clinically indicated — not performed routinely on people without a clinical reason
  • Onward testing or referral where findings warrant it

A note on imaging

We don’t scan everyone.

Echocardiograms and other cardiac imaging are valuable when there is a clinical reason for them. We deliberately do not market imaging as indiscriminate whole-body cardiovascular screening: testing asymptomatic people without a reason leads to false positives, incidental findings and anxiety. Where imaging will genuinely help you, it is available and arranged appropriately.

The outcome

Your risk, explained — and a plan.

You receive a clear explanation of your cardiovascular risk and a practical, personalised plan to reduce it — addressing blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, weight, smoking and activity, with medication or referral where appropriate. Cross-linked with our Weight Management and Longevity Health Assessment where relevant.

Limits & honesty

What we won’t claim.

No assessment can guarantee that you will not have a heart attack or stroke, and we will not suggest otherwise. What we provide is an accurate estimate of your risk and evidence-based steps to lower it — proper preventive cardiology, honestly described.

FAQs

Common questions.

What is a cardiovascular health assessment?

A doctor-led review of your risk of heart and circulatory disease. It typically includes your history, blood pressure and pulse, a cardiovascular examination, a lipid (cholesterol) profile, glucose or HbA1c where appropriate, and a formal risk estimate such as QRISK — with an ECG or further tests where clinically indicated.

Do I get an echocardiogram or heart scan?

Not automatically. Echocardiography and further imaging are available where clinically indicated — for example if your history, examination or ECG suggests it would help. We don't perform heart scans on every asymptomatic person, because indiscriminate imaging leads to false alarms and unnecessary follow-up.

Will this prevent a heart attack?

No test can guarantee prevention, and we won't claim otherwise. What a cardiovascular assessment does is estimate your risk and identify things you can change — blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, weight, smoking and activity — so you and your doctor can act early and sensibly.

Is an ECG always included?

An ECG is included where it is clinically appropriate — it's a quick, low-risk test. But a normal resting ECG doesn't exclude all heart problems, so we interpret it alongside your history and risk factors rather than in isolation.

Who should consider it?

Adults with cardiovascular risk factors or a family history of heart disease, or anyone who wants a clear, evidence-based picture of their heart risk and a plan to reduce it. If you have chest pain, breathlessness or other acute symptoms, seek urgent medical care rather than booking a routine assessment.
