Who it’s for

Early detection where it counts

Lung cancer is far more treatable when found early. Low-dose CT screening is aimed at people at higher risk — typically current or former smokers, especially over 55 — and can find small changes long before they cause symptoms.

How we run it

We start with a consultation to assess your risk and suitability, arrange the low-dose CT and expert reporting through our imaging partners, and then explain the result. Most scans are clear; if a nodule is found, we guide you through what it means and arrange the right follow-up or referral.

This is an assess, scan and refer service. Where treatment or specialist management is needed, we arrange it promptly through our trusted consultant and imaging partners.

Benefits and limits

Screening saves lives but can also find harmless nodules that need monitoring. We explain the balance clearly, and — if you smoke — we’ll offer support to stop, which is the single biggest thing you can do for your lungs (see our stop-smoking clinic).

Safe, joined-up care

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.
  • This is an assess, scan and refer service. Where treatment or specialist management is needed, we arrange it promptly through our trusted consultant and imaging partners.

Common questions

Who should consider lung CT screening?

Mainly current and former smokers, particularly over 55, or those with a strong family history or occupational exposure. We’ll assess your individual risk.

Is the radiation dose high?

No — it’s a low-dose CT, using a fraction of the radiation of a standard CT, chosen specifically for screening.

What if a nodule is found?

Most nodules are harmless. We explain the finding, arrange appropriate follow-up scans or refer you promptly to a respiratory specialist if needed.

Do you help with stopping smoking?

Yes — our stop-smoking clinic combines medication and support, and quitting dramatically reduces your risk.
