How much does a private GP cost?

Private GP consultations at our Whitechapel clinic are £140 in person, or £70 by phone — both with an experienced, GMC-registered doctor. Transparent pricing and no hidden costs; full pricing for every service — including blood tests, ultrasound, ADHD assessments and specialist consultations — is listed on our fees page.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral needed for most appointments — you can book directly with a private GP, ultrasound, blood tests or many of our specialist services. A small number of consultant clinics prefer a referral letter, which our GPs can issue same-day if needed.

How quickly can I be seen?

Most private GP appointments are available the same day, including evenings and weekends. We're open 7 days a week 9am–7pm at our Whitechapel clinic, serving patients across East London, the City of London, Aldgate and Liverpool Street.

Do you accept private medical insurance?

Many appointments are self-pay with an itemised invoice you can submit to Bupa, AXA, Vitality, Aviva or Cigna for reimbursement where applicable. Please contact our reception team to confirm your specific insurance arrangement before booking.

Where exactly are you located?

We're at 97-99 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1DT, in East London. Aldgate East is the closest station, just a few minutes' walk away. Whitechapel station (Elizabeth, District & Hammersmith & City lines and the Overground) and Liverpool Street are also nearby — a short journey from the City of London. Multiple bus routes stop directly outside.

When to test

Timing, and the 72-hour rule.

HIV — RNA from ~10 days; 4th-generation from 4 weeks (reliable at 6). The rapid HIV RNA test can identify infection from as early as 10 days after exposure. Standard 4th-generation antibody/antigen testing is reliable from 4 weeks, with a confirmatory test at 6 weeks for full certainty. We’ll discuss your specific risk at the appointment. Windows follow BASHH guidance.

High-risk exposure in the last 72 hours? You may need PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) to prevent HIV, and it is time-critical. TBH does not provide PEP — go straight to an NHS sexual health clinic or A&E. The Ambrose King Centre at the Royal London is a 6-minute walk away and provides free PEP.

NHS sexual health services are free, excellent, and around the corner from us. If cost or speed isn’t your priority, they may be the better choice, and we’ll tell you so. What we add is same-week access, a single private appointment, and results in days — with no entry on your NHS GP record.
