Long-term skin conditions, properly managed

Eczema and psoriasis are common, long-term conditions that flare and settle. Good day-to-day control makes an enormous difference — and that starts with the right diagnosis and a plan you can actually follow.

  • Eczema & dermatitis — atopic eczema, contact and irritant dermatitis, hand eczema and dry, itchy skin in adults and children
  • Psoriasis — plaque, scalp and other forms, including assessment of severity and impact on your life
  • Related concerns — skin infections that complicate eczema, and itchy or inflamed skin that needs a clear diagnosis

Your assessment

Finding the cause and the triggers

We take a full history — how long it’s been there, what triggers or worsens it, your work and home environment, and what you’ve already tried — and examine your skin carefully. For suspected contact allergy we can advise on and arrange patch testing. Where psoriasis may affect your joints, we ask about joint symptoms and arrange the right onward care.

Treatment options

Control the flare, protect the skin

We follow national (NICE) guidance and tailor treatment to how severe your skin is and how it affects you:

  • Emollients & skincare — the right moisturisers and washing routine, which are the foundation of control
  • Topical treatments — steroid creams used safely, plus non-steroid options and vitamin-D based creams for psoriasis
  • Flare plans — a written plan so you know exactly what to step up, and when, when your skin flares
  • Infection management — prompt treatment of infected eczema
  • Specialist options — where skin is severe or not responding, we refer for phototherapy or specialist systemic and biologic treatments

Children’s skin

Gentle, family-friendly care

Childhood eczema is very common and very treatable. We explain everything to parents, show you how to apply treatments confidently, and give a clear flare plan — and we’re careful about the safe use of steroid creams in children.

Safe, joined-up care

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.

Common questions

Are steroid creams safe?

Used correctly, topical steroids are safe and effective. We explain exactly how much to use and for how long, match the strength to the area of skin, and review you so they’re used only as needed.

Can you help with my child’s eczema?

Yes. We assess and treat eczema in children, show parents how to apply emollients and treatments, and provide a clear flare-control plan. Very severe cases can be referred to a paediatric dermatologist.

Do you offer patch testing for allergies?

Where contact allergy is suspected, we advise on patch testing and arrange it. This helps identify substances that trigger dermatitis so you can avoid them.

Can psoriasis affect more than my skin?

Yes — psoriasis can affect the joints (psoriatic arthritis) and is linked with other health conditions. We ask about this and arrange the right assessment and referral if needed.

What if my skin doesn’t improve?

If your skin is severe or not responding to standard treatment, there are specialist options such as phototherapy and systemic or biologic medicines. We refer you to a consultant dermatologist for these.
