Why it matters

The right test, in the right order

If your PSA is raised or you have urinary symptoms, current best practice is an mpMRI first. It gives a detailed picture of the prostate and a standardised score (PI-RADS) that guides whether a biopsy is needed and, if so, exactly where to target it.

How we run it

From PSA to plan

We review your PSA and symptoms (see our PSA test and urology services), arrange the mpMRI and specialist reporting through our imaging partners, and then talk you through the result. If a biopsy or treatment is needed, we refer you promptly to a consultant urologist.

This is an assess, scan and refer service. Where treatment or specialist management is needed, we arrange it promptly through our trusted consultant and imaging partners.

Safe, joined-up care

You’re seen by GMC-registered clinicians at our CQC-registered Whitechapel clinic. We keep clear, confidential records and, with your consent, share a summary with your NHS GP so your care stays joined up. A chaperone is available for any examination on request, at no charge.

You don’t need to be registered with us, and private care complements — it doesn’t replace — being registered with an NHS GP.

What we don’t do here

  • We are not an emergency service. For anything serious or life-threatening, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent advice any time, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
  • We are an outpatient clinic and do not provide hospital admission or inpatient care.
  • Private care and screening complement, and do not replace, being registered with an NHS GP or national NHS screening programmes.

Common questions

Why have an MRI before a biopsy?

Because national guidance now recommends mpMRI first — it improves detection of significant cancer and helps many men avoid an unnecessary biopsy.

Does it involve radiation?

No — MRI is radiation-free. Some prostate MRIs use a contrast injection, which we’ll explain.

What is a PI-RADS score?

A standardised 1–5 score describing how likely a suspicious area is to be significant cancer — it guides whether and where to biopsy.

What if the scan is abnormal?

We explain the result and refer you promptly to a consultant urologist for a targeted biopsy or further management.
